Christopher McCallum, a longtime power generation industry expert and member of the POWERGEN International advisory committee, has died.

McCallum died earlier this week at Boston Medical Center. He was 44.

Since 2015 he had worked as a principal consultant at Lummus Consultants International. His area of expertise was assessment of power generation, cogeneration, renewable energy and energy storage projects for investors, companies and government agencies, according to McCallum’s LinkedIn page.

McCallum began serving on the POWERGEN International advisory committee in 2018 and chaired one session during the December conference in Orlando. He had planned to serve again in the Energy Storage Breakthroughs conference track and participate in content planning for POWERGEN 2019 next November in New Orleans.

Prior to joining Lummus, McCallum worked for NextEra Energy Resources. He was operations manager and chief engineer at a 300-MW dual-fuel combined cycle power plant in the ISO-New England wholesale energy market.

McCallum was  a graduate from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy with a BS in Engineering and MS in Facilities Management. His classmates wrote “Chris was a bright, dedicated and articulate Engineer who always had a smile on his face.  He went out of his way to help friends, family and colleagues throughout the industry whenever he could. It was an honor and a privilege to be clients, classmates and friends with such an exceptional individual.”
