World Resource Institute’s Global Forest Watch team is preparing to release its annual analysis of where forests were lost in 2020. Join WRI’s embargoed press call on Thursday, March 25 at 9:00AM ET/14:00 CEST, where global experts will provide a preview of the 2020 tree cover loss data.

Much of the world was brought to a standstill 2020. How did forests fare as the world grappled with a global pandemic and economies in turmoil? Where were forests most impacted by fires and other consequences of climate change?

The year 2020 also marks 20 years of data on Global Forest Watch. What have we learned over two decades of monitoring tropical forest loss and what can be done to stop it?

The highly anticipated satellite-based data from University of Maryland, and corresponding analysis and insights from WRI, are strictly embargoed for Wednesday, March 31 at 00:01AM ET/6:01AM CEST. A Dropbox of embargoed data and graphics is available before the call by contacting Katie Lyons or Mansie Hough.

This year, the tree cover loss findings will be released via the Global Forest Review, offering deeper analysis with expert insights on the state of the world’s forests.
