New York, 28 October 2025 – Thirty years after the landmark 1995 World Summit for Social Development in Copenhagen, world leaders will gather at the Second World Summit for Social Development taking place from 4 to 6 November in Doha, Qatar to strengthen global partnerships and promote inclusive policies that foster equitable opportunities for all.
The Summit will formally adopt the Doha Political Declaration, agreed by consensus through an intergovernmental negotiating process, aiming to reinvigorate multilateralism and accelerate social progress that leaves no one behind. The Summit is also expected to generate commitments and initiatives by governments and other stakeholders that address barriers to poverty eradication, employment and decent work for all, and social integration through innovative solutions and transformative measures.
