JP Elektroprivreda BiH (EPBIH) in Sarajevo has signed a contract with the Siemens Gamesa Consortium to supply 15 wind turbines for the 48-MW Podvelezje plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The consortium consists of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Ltd. and Siemens Wind Power A/S.

Under the terms of the contract, the consortium will design, supply equipment, handle construction works, assemble, test and commission the turbines and provide five years of maintenance after the plant is commissioned. The value of both contracts is about €69 million (US$78.5 million), including the cost of providing security for the return of credit funds.

The project will be located on the plateau of Podvelezje, about 10 km east of Mostar. When complete, it is expected to have annual production of about 130 GWh.

The Federal Government of Germany and KfW (German Development Bank) funded and advised on this project, according to Christian Sedat, charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Siemens Gamesa was formed in 2016 from a merger of the wind business of German engineering giant Siemens and the Spanish turbine maker Gamesa.
