Edify Energy and Octopus Investments selected Signal Energy Australia to build the 333-MWdc/275-MWac Darlington Point Solar Plant on 2,000 acres in western New South Wales (NSW), Australia.

The EPC is the Australian subsidiary of Chattanooga, Tenn-based Signal Energy. The project is the company’s second in Australia and when complete will be the largest in Australia, said the company in a release. Canadian Solar will supply more than 820,000 high-efficiency (400-W) modules for the project, which is expected to begin construction in March. The plant will use single-axis tracking.

Construction starts in March 2019 and will be complete in 2020.  The solar plant will be built on approximately 2,000 acres near Darlington Point, New South Wales, Australia. Over 820,000 of Canadian Solar’s 1500V high efficiency HiKu (CS3W-P) will be installed on single-axis tracking systems.

Edify Energy said the project will be built on land adjacent to TransGrid’s Darlington Point substation at Donald Ross Drive and that proximity to the transmission system, excellent solar irradiance and the flat, open terrain make this location ideal for the project.

The NSW Department of Planning and Environment granted the Development Consent for the project on December 7, 2018.

Solar Power was a hot topic at last year’s POWERGEN. The 2019 event takes place in New Orleans on November 19-21. Mark your calendar now.
