The Festival

What: The SDG Global Festival of Action will bring together more than 1,500 political decision-makers, activists, experts, business leaders and creatives from over 130 countries at the World Conference Centre in Bonn, Germany from 2 to 4 May 2019. The Festival, organized by the UN SDG Action Campaign, aims to share different perspectives, test and accelerate new ideas, and build an environment where the SDGs become a priority for political engagement, democratic participation and personal behaviour while deepening the coalition for SDG action.

Who:  Leaders from governments, local authorities, international organizations, civil society, activists, young advocates, the creative industry, and the private sector

When: 2 – 4 May 2019

Where: World Conference Center (WCC), Bonn, Germany

Who:

  • Maria Flachsbarth, Parliamentary Secretary of State in the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the German Federal Government;
  • Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, Assistant Secretary-General and Director for the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, UN Development Programme
  • Marina Ponti Global Director a.i. UN SDG Action Campaign
  • Eddie Ndopu, newly appointed SDG Advocate from South Africa and the first person with disabilities to travel to space

Virtual participation – We are  inviting journalists outside of Bonn to participate in the press moment by submitting questions in advance. Please email your questions to marta.rojas@undp.org at the UN SDG Action Campaign no later than Wednesday, 2 May, 11:00 p.m.

The UN SDG Action Awards Ceremony will celebrate outstanding achievements and innovative efforts to ignite action on the SDGs. The ceremony will recognize some of the greatest innovators, mobilizers, connectors, storytellers, communicators and visualizers from across the globe.  For a full list of finalists, click here.

4 May | #IamSDG The Butterfly Effect – Augmented Reality SDG Wings Launch 

Building on its award-winning SDG Wings campaign, the UN SDG Action Campaign will launch the #IamSDG Augmented Reality (AR) Campaign inviting people to become the SDGs by taking action for the Goals. An AR Filter will be made available on Social Media platforms to encourage everyone to pledge their action for the Goals and put in motion a viral butterfly effect to transform the world.
