If you have a garden at home or large plots of greenery at your workplace, you know that gardening and landscaping can require a lot of cutting, pruning and fertilizing so that plants can grow strong and healthy. Many people choose to spend money on artificial fertilizer, which is oftentimes ridiculous since their gardens and kitchens are full of valuable compost and mulch. Of course, we are talking about biodegradable waste!

This green waste includes everything that’s left behind after landscaping work—grass clippings, leaves, weeds, plant trimmings, branches, flowers, etc. All biodegradable materials can be broken down by bacteria and turned into something useful. Unfortunately, not many people know the value of smart green waste disposal, but this will change after you read this article that will explain all the advantages of green waste disposal and how it can be used for the benefit of the environment.

Environmental benefits

If you decide to practice this way of waste removal, you can do a lot of good for the environment. When waste is simply dumped at a landfill, it decomposes over time and releases methane and other harmful greenhouse gases. Methane is extremely dangerous for the atmosphere and it has up to 25 times stronger effects than CO2. On the other hand, if you practice proper green waste removal methods, your waste will never reach a landfill. This way, you’re not only preventing the release of methane but also saving valuable landfill space.

Composting

No matter if you’re a homeowner or business owner, you can put green waste from your property to good use. If you choose to compost your waste, you can also add food waste from fruit and veggies to your list of green waste (but these cannot be added to your green waste recycling pile). Composting is very sustainable and can be very effective, especially if you work with other businesses and neighbors to compost materials together. Australia has several great examples of such cooperation.

In general, natural waste is 100% biodegradable and can be turned into quality compost excellent for feeding the soil. Compost can be used in gardening, landscaping and agriculture to enrich the soil and produce strong and healthy plants.

Recycling

You can give composting a change at home, but it’s not an easy job—it’s time-consuming, tricky and messy. If you’re not ready for such responsibility or don’t have a need for compost, you can employ expert waste management. Residents of Australia are lucky once again since they can easily rely on green rubbish removal in Brisbane to take care of branches, wooden fences, decks, vegetation, outdoor furniture and other green waste. If you wish, they can recycle your trash from Brisbane and surrounding areas in a green and safe way.

Reduced costs

You might not be aware of many hidden costs that are involved in disposing of green waste at landfills. Landfills have levies and license costs, but also costs of collecting green waste, transporting it and dumping it out. When you add everything up, it can end up being a considerable sum. On the other hand, if you hire professionals to handle your green waste, you can reduce your disposal costs. Also, your job will always be done properly and all the waste will end up in the right place.

Hygiene benefits of Green Waste Removal

It’s a sad truth that most green waste ends up in garbage cans and regular dumpsters.  This environment affects biodegradable waste a little bit differently than man-made waste. Green waste will degrade in a way that produces a lot of methane and other stinky gasses. However, with proper green waste removal, your home, yard and business will never be filled with odorous gasses. Keeping your premises clean will ensure there are no odors around. If you reduce green waste, you can also keep pests away and ensure high hygiene standards in your home or business.

Among some other benefits of proper green waste disposal is keeping our landfills empty. Landfills around the world are already brimming with trash, so if you choose to recycle or compost, you can ensure these landfills are not working over their capacity. All in all, the eventual goal of zero waste can be reached only if we dispose of biodegradable materials in the right way. While businesses need to do their part first, you can also do a lot on an individual level.
